Should I consider adding Google AdSense to my blog?

Does it provide income? Does it make sense to have it if your blog is still new? How can I be sure the ads with be appropriate to my audience? Is this a standard in running a blog?

This will be based on specific keywords that you use. Advertisers pay out on cost per click.
