Should helpful answers default to "yes" instead of "no"?
Note: I'm using Jason's stat's as an example, because it illustrates quite well the downside to the current system. I think we'd all agree his answers are not 77% unhelpful.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

we are going to move these charts to just a count (i.e. 17 helpful and 21 best) as opposed to as a % -- which makes no sense you're correct!

M$Thanks for the feedback! You guys are exactly right. As Jason mentioned we're going to move to just showing the counts (i.e. 17 helpful and 21 best). We realized this before launch but ran out of time to fix it.
Seems logical. There must be a way it was implemented the way it was, hopefully we'll find out why and generate some discussion on possible alternatives. Yours makes sense to me.

M$Let's say I have 12% "yes," and 3% "no." All the answers I gave that no one bothered voting on should no count against me. It's not that they weren't helpful, it's just that they weren't voted on.
Just my two cents :)
hope this helps

M$I would also add that there should be a way to tell which questions you have posted in (and if there is already being done, it should be more clear) . I like to return to questions I have answered to see other people's comments and this would help. (doing this through the profile is not what I had in mind by the way.)
Perhaps this will also encourage questioners to return to their questions to vote on answers they found helpful.

M$People could just be going around voting people down for no reason even if they are yellow belt or above.
