Should Donald Rumsfeld be prosecuted for torture?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think so as long as Bush and Cheney are also prosecuted for their various schemes and evil deeds against people at home and abroad.

I prefer package deals.

If there's sufficient evidence that he signed off on interrogation methods that we and the international community consider torture, then absolutely he should be tried for war crimes. No one is above the law.

Also, it's very possible that as ratifiers to the Geneva Conventions, if we don't take care of it within our own government, he may be tried in international courts, since ratification indicates a willingness to sacrifice a small bit of sovereignty to the international community.

No.

If every government official had to worry about being prosecuted by onday morning quarterbacks who disagree with their decisions after the fact, with the benefit of hindsight, no hard decisions would ever be made and the world would soon be ruled by those who have no respect for your sense of right and wrong or for your life or mine or for our children or for anything but violence and power.

Our leaders cannot protect the American people by having to second guess all the bleeding hearts who want to convert the evil people of theworld by giving them a Coca-Cola.

Our leaders are human and will make mistakes. Unfortunately due to the nature of their position, their mistakes will affect more people than our personal mistakes. Their actions will have larger consequences than ours. Further, not all of us will agree on which of their actions were right and which were wrong. But ultimately -WE, collectively are the ones who are responsible for their "crimes". WE are the ones who gave them the power and the responsibility to make those decisions and take those actions

These leaders MUST be protected from prosecution by anyone other than our own government for violating anything other than our own law
