Should dogs have seat belts when riding in the car?
They are now for sale at places like Petsmart and Petco and am interested in getting them ofr my dogs. The problem is my dogs have ridden in the car all their lives and now at the age of three would they take to riding with the seat belts?
They do not look uncomfortable at all they look like the dog is in a comfortable position and so I am not sure if I want to invest in those at this time. Has anyone had any experience with them and do they recommend them?

I've used a dog seatbelt and my daughter uses a dog seatbelt for her pet. They are good. They are well worth the money and the dogs have no trouble with them, well none that I've seen or heard about.
My dog was a large dog, very used to sitting in the front seat and looking out the window, she was still able to do that but I knew she wouldn't get thrown into the windscreen if I had tobrake suddenly. My daughter has a small dog, and she also has no trouble looking out the side window and having fun going for the drive.
Both of them got used to them very quickly but both dogs had been leased trained. I would suggest if your dog has not been on the leash very often to get them used to the feel and slight tugs they make before getting them into the car with a belt. Once they get used to it, its no problems for them or us and we feel a whole lot better knowing they are safe.
