Should CBS air the Super Bowl ad that promotes conservative organization Focus on the Family?

The ad hasn't run yet, but it's already sparked massive, massive controversy. Some details: http://www.sltrib.com/News/ci_14327273

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

wow, that is sad. I certainly do not wish to watch or listen to people like that, but if I was to watch the super bowl I could just decide to take a tv break for a minute or 2.

Freedom of speech (and tons of money) gives the fools the ability to get their message out to millions during the super bowl, its up to the millions of people to tune those fools out. Yeah I know some people will be curious to go to their web site or location after hearing about it on the super bowl but I don't think most people pay a lot of attention to the commercials during the super bowl. Well I watch the new Pepsi commercials but most of the ads are ignored by me and i am sure many others.

I have to agree that the story is probably a lie (it's actually becoming very cliche for these pro-lifers to claim that they valiantly stood up to some abortion-hungry doctor), and really, one frickin' commercial is not going to change anyone's mind, so it's probably a huge waste of money. That being said, I'm all in favor of Focus on the Family wasting their money. They are a ridiculous organization that spews anti-gay (and now anti-transgendered) babble, advocates that parents (well, mothers anyway) put their children behind their faith (actual quote from the website: "He wants my relationship with Him to supersede every other relationship in my life, including my children"), and preaches that as Christians, they know which humans are worth less than other humans.

CBS can air whatever drivel they want. If someone is so stupid that they'll ignore the health and women's rights issues of reproductive control, just because some meathead jock and his mommy says they should, well, that moron was one step away from needing a 24 caregiver anyway.

Ironically, this woman is actually boasting about a choice she made. Apparently, she should have choices, but no one else should.

They should air whoever has the money to pay for it. Everyone has the right to voice their own opinion. There are people who don't like to see tampon ads or k-y jelly ads but they have rights.

If they are paid, then they should air the commercial. Not every commercial is going to appeal to every person.

I'm sure fairies don't exist in real life but in the imagination of a child they can be very real. When you mature you reject these fanciful things.
