I think bullying should be considered a crime, as some bullying gets very violent. There should be a major crackdown on this as soon as possible, as it seems to be getting worse! I have seen the outcome of bullying on my friends child, and it's really terrible. Hopefully as the media picks up on several bad cases, the schools really need to try a different approach to deal with the bullies!

I think bullying should be an offence in schools but not crime although it is wrong. We have to understand that kids are not adult, they are not completely mature as adults do. So we need time to coach them in schools and most of them will understand that it is wrong when they graduated out of schools. Unless the bullying leads to quite a serious consequences, then it should be judge as crime if not minor bullying should not be considered as crime. We should know it because we have been kids before.

Yes! Emotional damage is just as bad as physical damage. In fact, it might be worse. Kids have been bullied forever, and now they have social technology to do it. We have seen an increase in kids committing suicide, not because someone hit them, but because they weren't equipped to deal with the psycological damage bullying caused them. And may we never, ever forget Columbine, a massacre led by two kids who suffered from constant alientation and bullying.

Yes it should, speaking as someone who has been bullied.

Bulling as changed since i was in school, and has taken on a new life with online bullying. Not to mention acts of bullying seem to make the news more frequently and are more violent and creative then when i was that age.

It's definitely not considered a crime in every school. It's unwanted behavior, but a 'crime' would mean it is against the law, and can lead to a formal charge to the police.

No it should not be a crime unless there is physical harm. Kids are kids and this has gone on since there were families. Even brothers bully eachother. You cannot hold a kid responsible for his normal growth process and his not understanding. All this stuff with games that nobody loses and no more dodge ball has gone to far in Schools. No wonder these kids have this pent up agression. But bullying is just part of the growing up process.

Gee lilly were you one of those bullied kids. If you vote down an answer you should give a reason or it just makes your vote moot. You should not vote someone down just for their own values and expressing their point of view, this is a free Country. But you did not answer the question either so obviously you have nothing intelligent to say.

Don't forget sometimes there is also someone bigger than the bully around willing to stick up for you :)

And this is all part of the growing up process. So that bully will learn he is not king of the hill and probably through embarrassment. Everything in the World has a pecking order and this is something you should learn as it follows through to the job market also.
