Yes! Yes! Yes. This is without a doubt a unique circumstance that must be rectified. Let's look at the facts.

Fact 1: It was a missed call. Replay illustrates he was out by a step.
Fact 2: The Umpire agrees that he blew the call.
Fact 3: The outcome of the game will not be affected if the play is reversed and a perfect game is awarded.
Fact 4: No one loses anything if the play is reversed.

The following chain of events needs to occur.

1: Jason Donald needs to say he is willing to have his hit ruled an out and award a perfect game to Galaragga.
2: The umpire needs to make a formal statement to Bud Selig and the MLB that he missed the call and it should be reversed.
3: The Tigers organization, on behalf of Galarraga, should appeal the call.

Even though Bud Selig just announced that he would not reverse the call, I feel this is a blatant mistake by the league. This will only further isolate fans from the game and start prompting further heated debate on the use of Instant Replay. Also, what about the umpire? Since the ruling isn't going to be reversed, how can this guy confidently make calls behind the plate or on the field? I don't see how anyone wins from this situation. Bud says it is important to keep the human element of baseball intact, but this is precisely why the human element is failing. The MLB had the chance to change a mistake and award history to a deserving player, but instead this will go down as the day when then MLB realized they need instant replay for just more than homeruns.

I watched this game and I will continue to tell everyone I know that I saw a perfect game on June 2nd from Armando Galarraga.

I'm going to say that as a Tigers fan (my first game to attend was Tigers v. Twins in Tiger Stadium in the late 70s) that Selig does not have to reverse the call, even if it would be a nice reward to, I think, the umpire and Galarraga. I also want to point out how proud I am of Jim Joyce for being so upfront about the bad call and how Galarraga came out and magnanimously forgave him. That, is baseball...the gentlemen's sport and an example as to how it should be in every sport.

Goooo Tigers!

As a Tiger fan myself, i would love to see Galaraga officially be recognized by Major League Baseball for his efforts. But, as a baseball purest, I do not ever see or want the call reveresed!

I believe Armondo Galaraga will be more famous for not throwing a perfect game, then if he had actually done it without controversy.

No. If you do that do you know how many players will come out of the woodwork wanting the call to their plays or opponents plays overturned?
