Pleats look good on tall men. The long lines that usually come with the long legs work well with the pleats. Actually, pleats are what tall men usually need most.
Now, with big men, that may not exactly work out, but there is an advantage for big men. Pleats are actually made for men whose waist size is much bigger than their thighs. So if that is you, that may work quite well.
However, if the circumference of your thigh makes the pleats stretch out, that may not look very good. You may just need to get the larger size pants and just do with the regular cut. That may look better in the long run. But experiment. It is hard to say what looks good until you try.
