I want one. This winter, my family decided rather than run around dressed as if we were spending the day at the beach, when it's all of 20 degrees outside, we'd actually dress the way people USED to dress in the winter: sweaters, cords, wool socks. That's allowed us to turn our heat down to the low 60's while staying pretty comfortable. We got our gas bill yesterday, and although it was 20% colder this year compared to the same period last year, our bill was 20% less!

Watch this video. It might be a fashion fad, or possibly a "Superman" like outfit that people can wear and think they are trendy wearing it. It's like crocs, it has a certain style to it that seems unique, but it's just a few blankets turned into a wardrobe, a fancy robe. I have not bought one, as I just use a regular jacket and pillow does the job. You could probably make your own out of a couple blankets if you really wanted to.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xZp-GLMMJ0

You can make your own Suggie simply by waring your robe backwards.

How do an of these fads catch on? Why did we love The Clapper and the Chia Pet? And how did Billy Mays become the pitchman for the new millennium? For some reason people just love these slightly off beat products. Take something mundane, give it a creative spin, and market the hell out of it.

Well, this whole craze can be traced back to the day in 1942 when John L. Snuggie first turned his bathrobe inside out and wore it the opposite way (with the part in the back). Since then he's built a garment empire based on his patent. Others have tried to compete with the Snuggie, but it's apparently just too hard to turn a conventional bathrobe inside out and wear it with the part in the back. Thus the Snuggie empire was born. Fun Snuggie Fact: Did you know that the first hospital garment was a Snuggie? In 1943 when the war effort was underway, John sent the first run from his production line to the Veterans Hospital in Squagaw Connecticut, so injured sailors could survive the bitter winter. At the time John coined the phrase "snuggle up with a sailor" to encourage the troops to share body heat. The Snuggies worked so well that all subsequent hospital gowns were modeled on the original Snuggie design.

There is not much better than getting all snuggly in a blanket watching a movie, playing video games, messing with your laptop! Everyone can relate to looking forward to (and maybe actually doing it) relaxing. Getting comfy with a blanket is nice but this is a step up with having the sleeves and all...that said, I would not buy one, since it looks like one could make this thing themselves...Yes, it is very popular...there is even a Facebook group for it!!

I have no clue why these things are so popular. When I'm cold, I add another layer, grab a blanket or whatever. To wear these dorky backwards bathrobes doesn't make any sense! If I wanted to option of wearing not having sleeves get it my way, then I'd put on a normal bathrobe. This just reminds me of a hospital gown where my rear would be hanging out all the time.

I know several twittering college students that are using them because dorms are cold. Most say their grandparents got them for them. Maybe they just appeal to grandparents as a good idea for all their offspring. I would never buy one, it were some how available to me I'd probably use it tho.

I know there was something like this on the market about 5 years ago, but it didn't catch on like this has. This one is 1) less expensive and 2) a bit more versatile. With the older model, you couldn't actually walk around in it.I want one. This winter, my family decided rather than run around dressed as if we were spending the day at the beach, when it's all of 20 degrees outside, we'd actually dress the way people USED to dress in the winter: sweaters, cords, wool socks.
