Have you ever looked into Book Mooch? It is basically a book trading website where you earn credit for the more books you send to people and you can trade them in to get books from others, you just pay for the shipping.
I get emails from Borders that give me 30-50 % off new books that have just come out as well. I used to go to half.com, but Amazon bought them so now you can find used books on Amazon when you do your search.
There was also a store called Half Priced Books that had great deals, but they are not nationwide.
The local library is also a great resource to find great books, even the latest releases and that is basically free.

I go to Amazon.com and look for the cheapest I can find that is still in almost new or new condition. Either that or local book bonanzas sometimes have good books at a cheap price. Sometimes I'll simply take advantage of sales at the local Barnes & Noble or Borders.

Personally I have dozens of Books at yard and garage sales, Flea markets, Goodwill Stores, Salvation Army, and Thrift Shops. Never know what you find but I came across manuals, school texts, and Novels (Best Sellers) for as low as a Dime.
