I find that on Ebay you can get many items generally cheaper than local shops. Ebay sellers do not need to pay for the actual shop upkeep, like utility bills, customer service reps, building lease etc. Also Ebay is a controlled online market place, and you get more protection, than if you shop on some other online sites.

I looked up Nike Jordans on Ebay and the average price is $70, so if it sounds like a good deal to you, check it out.

Tips for Ebay shopping:
1) Carefully read item description and make sure you are buying what you intend to. Is the item genuine, is it new, how much is p&p, etc.
2) If the item is on bids, click 'watch item' and wait until about 10 minutes before the auction ends to place your bid. (You may get the item cheaper this way)
3) Only bid on what you intend to pay for or you risk a chance of being labeled as a 'time waster' and may be banned from Ebay.

Another idea is to look the shoes up in large Sport shops, as they may have them on sale. I don't know how it goes in US, but in UK all Sports shops are slowly 'going bust' and discount some products at 50%-70%.
