What shoes and purse would go with this dress?

I found the perfect short, black dress for a night on the town, but I'm completely baffled what I should wear with it. What are your suggestions for a great pair of shoes and an amazing purse to go with this outfit ?

Ok, I'm not a fashion diva, but I'd suggest classic options with some 'texture' to add interest. You did not specify an occasion for this dress, but the length to me suggests an evening look, so I'll go with those style options for the bag and shoes.

Purse should be a clutch so as not to break up the shoulder line of the dress, I'll give photo examples below. Black or color of your choice or a metallic - this is to your taste, go with classic lines and you can't miss.

According to the web site 'youlookfab' sourced below, while matching shoes and purse are always correct you do not need to follow this style rule to look great and be fashionable. In my opinion, the purse will be your #1 accessory, the shoes will be #2 with this black dress.

Shoes, again classic but nice height on the heels will be great, depending on your tolerance and balance. Me, I have my own limits, but it's up to you.

I might also suggest that (if this is you modeling) that your hairstyle for the night is an 'up do' or maybe (if it's a really important event) consider getting your hair trimmed to an off the shoulder length to show off the 'bateau' style neckline. No necklace though as it would break up the great lines.

You can go with the simple - black heels - 2-3 inches is a good height (here's a good, basic but sexy shoe http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3031215/0~2376778~2372808~2372940~2376188?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=2376188&P=1) and match it with a black purse.

Or you can make the shoes and purse the highlight of your outfit and go with red pumps and a red purse to contrast the black dress.

Unless you're going to a funeral (I don't think you are... are you?)
I would suggest what Fblendstrup said and go with shoes and purse that highlight the outfit.
Since the dress is black, beautiful and basic... the sky is the limit!!

You can't go wrong with black on black.

If you're feeling fisty, you might try a pair of silver strappy shoes. Along with a little cute clutch to go with it.

Target has some really cute stuff!

I love Target too! =D I don't know if you have a Famous Footwear in your area, but you can get some higher end brands for... quasi cheap. Their shoes runs about $20-50 (depending on the brand) but they have some uber cute stuff. If you're willing to shell out some money for a nice pair of shoes, I'd try them. (They are also having their buy one pair, get the 2nd half off, If you have money to spend. I love their Skechers!)

Or Sears. I got some nice knee high boots there that I love. Best part is, it would go with your dress. Nothing says flirty like a nice pair of tall boots! Of course, now I that I look for them, I can't find them on the website. But they do have some pretty silver shoes!

Since it's a basic black dress, your options for shoes and accessories are wide open! You can wear basically any color shoe with this dress you want (except browns or navy). There is no need to wear black shoes with it unless you're going to a funeral!

You said it was for a night on the town, so I think gold shoes/accessories would look great!
Here are a few that I found on Target:

For the bag, I really like this one from Le Regale (it's only $25!):

For a shoe, I love these gold pumps, and they are only $20!
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41rMIw2EqnL._AA260_.jpg

As for other accessories, you should wear a long necklace since there's no detailing on the front of the dress...like this one:

-------------------------------------------------
If you're looking for something a little more vibrant, you can't go wrong with a cute animal print, like these zebra pumps:
http://www.zappos.com/images/744/7446585/1396-912453-d.jpg

I'd pair it with a white or silver bag, like this cute one from target for only $30:

---------------------------------------------------
I think hot pink shoes/accessories would look hot with this dress, as well.
For example, pumps like these:

Then a yellow clutch that will pick up on the yellow heel detail:

why not...? the dress is very mod yet still basic, so the brightly colored shoes would look awesome with it! Not for everyone but certainly in style. I know my fashion! :)

Honey you need some BLING! Get rid of the Black tights and go with natural coloured ones. You could go with a nice Black Patent leather pair of shoes with a mid heel and with a sparkle bow or like on the toe. The purse should match the shoes so go with a bit of Bling on a plain black shoulder purse. Not too large though. More on the smaller size. Perhaps a glitzy buckle on the catch.
You should wear your hair up too. It will make you look much more sophisticated. Your dress screams sophistication. If you like a bit of jewellry then perhaps opt for small drop earings or a fine chain necklace but not the two together.
