Th best sneakers for support are most defiantly brooks. The basic ones are around 100 dollars. They get a little more expensive when you get to the ones used for running. The ones I run in are 130, but they last 500 miles. As a runner Ive been through a lot of brooks but as a day to day shoe they will last a really long time. You can buy them at almost any sporting good store too. I highly recommend them.

Never heard of them before but looks like they have a lot of good reviews onthe internet
well my brother actually wears nike no matter what. He says tehy are the most supportive, comfortable shoe he has ever worn. :)
I've never gone wrong with New Balance, either the cross trainers or the running shoes. Both have been the best sneakers I have ever had.
Hard question to answer. Depends on the guy and the foot. How wide your foot is, whether you have high arches, if you plan to walk, run, or play tennis in the shoe.
I would suggest, if possible, to find a local running shoe store and go over and get specialized attention. Not like a "foot locker" or some place, but an athletic runniing store.
Here is a list of running shoe stores in the United States. Hopefully one is near to you.

As much as the Internet is fabulous for finding good deals, sometimes there's no substitute for pampering yourself with some good, old-fashioned customer service. Especially when it comes to clothing and shoes.
