A) Aproximately 100, more if you would like to include series.

2) Do you watch in theatre - then buy? Rent then Buy? Buy sight unseen because of ...actors, filmmakers, genre, etc.
A) It is quite rare that I will watch in the theatre then buy, as I usually like to know what the extras will be like. What I may do with a movie I loved is rent it through Netflix.

3) Are you the type of person that is in Blockbuster every week or online with Netflix reserving the upcoming or new releases.
A) Not really I often use Netflix for classic movies or movies that have been on DVD for a while, this way I don't worry about wait times.

4) Have you ever purchased a movie because you liked it so much after renting it?
A) I may rent a movie I love more than once. If after watching a movie twice I can easily imagine myself watching it again &/or showing friends I will pick it up.

Quite frequently actually, I get them as gifts more often then I give them.

1) A lot. Pretty much one a day.
2) I watch most of them at home, rentals or own. And buy sight unseen depending upon the actor/filmmaker
3)Yes. I reserve upcoming or new releases online.
4) Several times. I rented Pursuit of Happyness, then bought it. Rented Gran Torino, then bought it. There are so many..
5)I gift either movies or books. And yes, movies and books are my favorite gifts to receive as well.

2) I watch in theater and then buy and then never watch them again. But I do have the intension of watching them again.

3) I actually use Apple TV to rent my movies.

4) Yes I have rented and then went out and purchased the movie. But like I said then it never gets watched again.

3) I have never purchased a movie as a gift but I have gotten a few as gifts.

I think the idea of owning the DVD is kind of a wast of money. I have so many movies that have never been watched or watched only one time. I think this is how the makers of these DVD's make most of there money. I told myself I will not buy anymore. I do rent and go to the movies alot but dont purchase them anymore.

When the DVD format was first introduced I went on a purchasing binge because I wanted to become a collector....later I realized I was just burning money.

With services like Netflix, I can just rent any DVD I want and not have to bother with the expense of purchasing it and owning it....

1. I own about 50 DVD's currently as I have given away any one I could...at any given time.

2. I usually watch summer blockbusters at the Theater and then Rent them on Blu-RAY when they are available.

3. Absolutely.

4. Yes, in the past..but now I know I can just get it again from Netflix without having to own it.

5. I have purchased as a gift and received as a gift too.

Ive never actually rented a DVD and then bought it. The way i feel is that it seems ignorant to rent movies in the first place, seeing as its $4 to rent and then your not going to turn it in on time and that's another $4. Its almost more practical to buy the DVD in first place. I hardly if ever rent DVD s its just not a financial smart for me.

I only own about 10 DVDs total

I usually tend to watch it on demand on the tv
and If I like it a lot I'll go buy it

I really dnt like blockbuster or netflix that much
if I'm gonna get a movie I would want 2 buy it plus I would usually gave to worry bout late fees amd losing the movie and stuff

Yes If I like da movie n feel I can watch it again I'll go buy it

I gave my sister the DVD piartes of the catibean for christmas amd I think I got harry potter movies for my birthday one year

I know that there are a lot of people out there that just buy movies without watching them first, I however, am not one of them. I like to rent a DVD and watch it before I make the decision to purchase it. I have bought a DVD before just because it looked like a really good movie, once I got it home however and watched it, I was very dissapointed. Personally I don't have money to waste on things that I am not going to use on a regular basis and therefore I try to research anything that I spend my money on, prior to spending said money. I hope that my answer is what you were looking for.

Approximately 100.

It depends on the franchise. I saw the second and third Matrix movies, as well as the fourth Terminator movie in the theater, then bought the set of the Matrix movies (Terminator 4 is not available at the time of this answer on DVD).

Rent then Buy?
I may rent movies that were hyped, but not worth the $14 or so to go see in the theater - if I like it, I usually wait for it to be released to the "clear it out bin" used.

Buy sight unseen because of ...actors, filmmakers, genre, etc.
Very rarely do I ever buy a movie unseen - with the exception of most Dreamworks releases...those I'll chance unseen.

No. I am capable of finding out release dates, but unless it's something I really want, I'll wait a month or so for the hype around the release to die down then rent / buy.

I actually stopped going to Blockbuster a few years ago - they kept closing stores, shrinking inventory, and raising prices to rent. They priced themselves out of reach.

Netflix has been hit or miss - when I do have a membership, it takes almost a week to turn-around DVD's. Since I get MAYBE one day off a week, I ended up watching only 2 or 3 of the movies I'd requested. Their online offerings seem to be 6 months behind on new releases, and by that time,.I've already lost interest in the movie.

4) Have you ever purchased a movie because you liked it so much after renting it?
Yes, Drumline, The Incredibles, the Shrek series, Million Dollar Baby - these are just a few that I rented, liked, and bought from the $5 bin.

Once or twice, but that was usually because I knew that person's collection, and was 100 percent certain they didn't have it.

Have you received a movie DVD as a gift?
Yes, for Christmas my brother and sister-in-law got me "Blue Man Group How to Be A Megastar LIVE". I've always wanted to see Blue Man Group live, but the ticket prices and venue in Chicago are WAY above my price range. $55+ for 1 ticket, $20-$30 for parking near the venue, $30 for food afterward...there's absolutely no way in good conscience I could ever justify spending $100+ on one night of entertainment when I have other bills to pay.

I own a handful of DVD's, most were given to me as gifts. I am a few that are associated with the Marine Corps that I bought for that reason alone. I rarely go see a movie in the theater and rush home to see when I can buy it; nor have I rented and then bought it, although I have done that with video games. I was a Netflix man, then a Blockbuster online man and now I am back to Netflix. My wife used to buy her son movies all the time; I swear he has at least $300 worth of cartoon movies. Now we have changed that. If he wants to see something I put it in the queue and he watches it that way. If he really likes it then he will earn a commission doing chores and HE can buy it. We do watch a good deal of movies and think that Netflix is the way to go.

1) between 100-125 at least, I lost count.... it's alot
2) i have, but it depends on if it was good, of course., and i have bought movies alot based only on recommendations/director/actors/genre
3) i don't reserve new releases, but i do attempt to get them when they come out (but i tend to use Rodgers On Demand/Pay Per View for most new releases, its cheaper and easier then going to the store most times)
4) quite a number of times, again, if they are good, i've also rent to 'preview' with the intent to buy, but just want to be sure if it's good...
5) yes and yes (but the gifts tend to be (not always) TV series, as they take longer to complete then an average movie would, so you can watch it over the course of a month)
