As you have not mentioned the price range, I would recommend Lenovo Thinkpad T400 for price, features and size consideration. It might not be the best looking laptop but it has decent number of features as well as decent weight.
Despite being acquired by Lenovo, Thinkpad laptop still has one of the best track point. Further, the Thinkpad T400 also comes with touch pad - should you think the track point is not good.
The starting weight is 4.7 lbs and it's 1.1" thin.
The Thinkpad T400 starts at $749 + free shipping for
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400 2.26GHz (integrated graphic card, 160GB Hard drive, 1GB DDR3 SD-RAM) to $1269 for Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400 2.53GHz ( with ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 with 256MB discrete graphic card, 250GB hard drive, 2GB DDR3 SD-RAM)

I've been rocking the MacBook Air with an SSD drive for well over a year and I love it's light weight and full keyboard and mouse. It does, of course, have a tack pad. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MB003LL-Laptop-Processor/dp/B0006HU4DK/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in
