Can a marriage survive without sex?

What are the ramifications of a seemingly sexless marriage (say once a quarter)?

I think it ultimately depends on the individual couple. I guess it could work for some people. Personally, I would have a hard time dealing with a sexless marriage, but it depends on the reason for my partner not wanting sex. Ultimately, it boils down to a lack of needs being met, which is obviously a critical part of any relationship. When a woman becomes disinterested in sex, it is often because she feels her needs aren't being met in other areas of the relationship. Sex seems to become a source of power for the woman in those type of situations. As for ramifications, I think it generally results in both parties feeling like their needs aren't being met, one emotionally and one physically, which creates further distance between the couple. Communication is the key to prevent such things.

I think sexual intimacy is a critical part of a marriage. Can it survive without sex? I guess it depends on your definition of "marriage". Some people have agreed that they can have sex outside of the two marriage partners for various reasons, or have agreed not to have sex period.

I think it's possible... just really really really (really!) difficult.

A marriage will not survive without sex. Some people make it work by finding outside partners. However, once cheating occurs I think it becomes an arrangement because either people are staying for their kids, money, or personal security.

I think sex bonds a couple, if there is no sex the bond between a couple is lost.

For me personally i'd say: No.

Sex for me is the same as going to the movies, visiting a concerts, having fun with friends and so fort. It's entertainment in it's purest form, where nothing else is needed but the two persons wanting to have sex.

No sex in a marriage be'd killing, how would you proof each other physically that you leave each other?

Personally, my belief is that it can survive. However, it may not thrive. Sex is one of the most wonderful of spiritual unions.

I believe that sex is a vital action in a marriage. If sex for what ever reason is eliminated by one or the other sex partners you need to find out the reason for the non interest. Some realtionships do have an agreement that they can go outside the relationship for sex, but I do not agree with it. It causes many unwanted problems such as trust, security and most of all the feeling of not being loved. There are several options to medical problems these days and should be addressed by paying a visit to your physician. Here is an outstanding site to visit that has many issues addressing sexual problems.
http://www.webmd.com/sexual-conditions/guide/mens-sexual-problems. Therefor I do not feel that a marriage or any relationship could survive without sex.
