hi, I tried forms, about 20 years ago. They just weren't adjustable enough. Now, I try things on every time I make a change in a garment.
For example, checking the chest fit, trying on each sleeve, attaching the skirt, checking hip width and fit, hemming.
The old "check 3 times and cut once" like carpenters say, applies for me.
Fortunately, most people I sew for (volunteer projects) are patient and good at trying things on! :)

Do you fit and design with dress forms?
If the answer is yes, do you have a custom made form, adjustable form or single size form that you pad? Do you find a form more useful when sewing for yourself or for others?

• I am going to venture back into making clothes for myself. I may start out with a duct tape dress form. If I find myself getting good use of it, I may in vest in the process of getting a My Twin form made. They were very popular with my sewing guild group years ago, because the women who conducts the workshop lives within driving distance.
The only clothing sewing I've done for other people has been for children, where there was enough ease in the garments that a measuring tape was a good enough test for overall fit.
