Set laptop WiFi switch permanently on?

The wifi switch on my laptop, Sony VAIO VGN-FE660G has a very temperamental wifi switch. Is there a way to disable the switch from working?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The wifi switch on any laptop I have worked on is either soldered directly to a circut board, or wired to one. You cannot disable the functionality of the switch with software. If you want it constantly on, you can take the case apart and physically bypass the switch, which I don't recommend. If the switch is a slider, you could however use what several custom PC manufacturers use to keep internal cables in their sockets. It is non damaging to electronics and removes effortlessly with a fingernail. A tiny drop of hot-melt glue. Even if it were to get in the laptop, it can't hurt anything.

Or use crazy glue. It's permanent, but it would do the same thing as this.

It could have something to with Windows, make sure you have all windows operating system all up to date.

Also I found a post from Chris Pirillo that suggests a few different patches related to the Vaio an wireless problems. Be sure to read it over and see if it relates to your problems. Good Luck
