Is the Apple iTunes store deceptive or is there another problem?

My wife wanted to buy two popular songs from the Apple iTunes store. I found them, they were 99 cents, and they were part of iTunes Plus (there was a little plus next to the song). I bought them...

When I got the receipt from Apple, they were 99 cents BUT they tacked on an additional 30 cents (each) to "iTunes Plus Upgrade".

Is this deceptive? I was expecting to pay 99 cents. When did I agree to pay $1.29?

Opinions and thoughts?

This shouldn't have happened. They recently included iTunes Plus upgrades as part of the purchase price (they used to be 30 cents and optional.)

Click on the "Report a Problem" link next to each song in your receipt. This will take you to Apple's complaints department, where they will be happy to reverse the charges.

Turns out... the upgrade didn't have to anything to do with the new songs! I had upgraded two OTHER songs. Because Apple waits around to group recent purchases into one receipt, it all appeared on the same e-mail.

Going to my iTunes store "Recent Purchaces" (thanks to obeowan's idea), I got more details and figured it out. Duh!

Hi,

iTunes is clever...and there must be something about this written in the Terms and Conditions. I suggest you take more care in the future as these extra 30 cents can add up.

Write to Apple Inc and ask why you had to pay that extra 30 cents. They won't send you 30 cents in return, but they might send you a gift voucher for $5 - so complain. But take care, because you may have misread something when you purchased it.

No, there isn't anything. They used to do this, but it was optional - and they told you about the fee. Now it's included in the purchase price.

I should know - I just bought some songs :)

They used to charge 1.29 for iTunes Plus, but now everything you buy that is iTunes Plus remains .99

This must have been a glitch. iTunes is really good about recrediting your account if they've made a mistake, so just contact them.

Good Luck :)
