Seeing how one of Canada's favourite pastimes is insulting Americans, what is it about them that we like or dislike?
After watching the patriotic fervour Canadians showed at the Winter Olympics, I dare say we rivalled the Americans when it comes to showing our love for our country. This got me to thinking, since this is one of the main insults Canadians use when disparaging our southern neighbours, I was merely curious as to what other reasons Canadians had for putting down the U.S. Personally, I don't insult or jeer the American people, but it does seem to be a favourite pastime for some of my fellow Canucks.

Canadian eh? my grandfather made his home in Moosejaw Saskatchewan and coached the girl's softball team until he was age 85. My mother was born in Canada and moved to sunny California before I was born, because she had a serious illness and could not tolerate the cold. My mother loved America, and she loved Canada. I never see a beautiful maple leaf that I do not think of my adorable mother's face; and her sadness every time she picked up a particularly large and exquisitely colored maple leaf. I've never heard any Canadian insult an American and I've spent time in
both countries. I find Canadian people just like everyone else..some are
beautiful people with sweet spirits and good souls, and some are mean
& narrow...just like Americans...sometimes you catch people on a bad day
My distant cousin; William Sampson is/was a Canadian foreign news
correspondent. He was kidnapped and tortured in Iraq and appeared on
international TV Christmas Eve 2005. He seemed a good and sincere man.
He risked his life to expose the Arab's who bombed Americans on 9-11
I've never met him. We are connected through the Kellogg's cereal clan
which is why my grandfather, Albert Kellogg was in Sask (wheat belt)
I've never seen my grandfather's home. Never made it that far east
But I've seen Honeymoon Bay BC and Vancouver..I'd live there in a Heart
beat! and one of my favorite fun flicks is 'Roxanne' made in Canada
I question why America does so little 'trade' with our next door neighbor
on the same continent; but instead trades with China Japan & S/E Asia
this requires tonnage of fuel dumped into the ocean every day from mass
and massive ships imports (few exports from US) Not much reciprocity. In
fact so much fuel is dumped in the oceans from import/export..it is no
longer safe for pregnant women to eat shellfish due to mercury poison.
Also Canada is ruled by a mature Queen who will Not tolerate pornography
Canada has the lowest rate of child pornography in the world. While
Asia and South America have the highest. 6-10 yrs old 12-17hr labor day
fifty cents a week. Child labor-pedophile Dens. No Retire. No benefits
I suspect the instigation to drum up hatred between our two nations..is
what Japan did to China in the 1930's drum up hate and loot ALL trade
Japan slaughtered three of my family members and friends Pearl Harbor
Bragged they were "Proud" and "Americans will suck our C" 1956. We DO !
I hope you will join me in encouraging our two governments to consider
far more trade with our good friends right next door. Far less child porn
As to the seal slaughter it's done by native Indians. 300 years ago the
American Indians tied a lone squaw to a green tree and lit her on fire
Took up to 14 days to slow roast while the Indians used her quivering in
shock body for 'target practice' Patriarchal heroes. Pay-tree-R-kill
If you look at the map of the USA and Canada up-side-down. You will see that USA is shaped like a giant Ant-eater with hog jowels (Indiana good pork!) and horns. EYE in the Apple-Ate-ya-Ann Mountains (Ozark poor looted of ideas and sold to the dragon) A-hole San Francisco. And Canada is shaped like a scorpion eating a huge dragon. Canada-Can-a-Duh eh?
