If you go to 15:13 of this video you can hear Jason Calacanis give his description of the difference of Mahalo and Wkipedia.

Good to be able to see the whole concept

There's not just one difference. The biggest one would be that we can't edit each other's answers. Once we send it, it's out there and only taken down if it violates the rules. This is not a wiki, and not a forum.

The other big difference is tipping! We can give and receive tips.

I think that the main difference between the two is that on Mahalo you can ask very specific questions and get a direct answer. Not to put down wiki or anything because a large portion of our answers come from there; but you can ask questions that may not be up to date on wiki such as current events and more recent information. This is one of the many reasons Mahalo is so great!
