Why is it impossible to understand biology in the absence of evolution?

Why is evolution the necessary component to understanding biology? What would happen if evolution was not used to explain biology?

Evolution is necessary to the understanding of biology because biological species are the products of evolution; without evolution, they (and we) wouldn't exist. Evolution explains the similarities between related species, the progression of past species as preserved in the fossil record, and the existence of vestigial organs (for example, some snakes have the remnants of hind limbs, a legacy from their four-legged reptilian ancestors).

The alternative to evolution would be the generation of species on an individualized basis. The problem with this is that it fails to explain any of the above observations. Why do some snakes have hind limbs? For that matter, why are some humans born with tails, if humans are a unique species unrelated to any other?

Without evolution as an explanation, the diversity of life on earth would have to be explained in terms of hundreds of millions of discrete events in which fully formed organisms simply appeared on the scene. Science would then have to explain how even one such event could take place, much less one for each species. At the present time, there are *no* scientific alternatives to evolution; all of the so-called alternatives to evolution are based on premises which are unverifiable and therefore not science.

• Do you think Evolution classification oversimply the complexity of living systems?

Evolution is the cornerstone to modern biology. It unites all the fields of biology under one theoretical umbrella. It is not a difficult concept but very few people--- the majority of biologist included have a satisfactory grasp on it.Misunderstandings about evolution are damaging to the study of evolution and biology as a whole. People who have general interest in science are likely to dismiss evolution as soft science after absorbing the pop science nonsense that abounds. The impression of it being a soft science is reinforced when biologist of unrelated fields speculate publicly about evolution.

Evolution is very necessary in understanding biology because it is necessary to view population as a collection of individuals, each harboring a different set of traits.A single organism is never typical of an entire population unless there is no variation within the population.Individual organisms do not evolve they reatin the same genes throughout their life.

If evolution is not used to explain biology it will difinitely be incorrect. The popular notion that evolution can be represented as a series of improvent from simple cells is so untrue.
