Fossil evidence indicates that modern horses (various species of the genus Equus) lived in the Americas from 3 million to about 10,000 years ago. The cause of their extinction is unknown, possibly related to climate change or human predation. Horses were reintroduced to the New World beginning with Columbus's second voyage in 1493.

How do scientist know that all the Horses were extinct?

Interestingly, in Central America there were at least four ethnic types: African, Shematic (Jewish), Asianic, and Indian. Is it reasonable that anyone of these groups could have imported the horse?

The fossil and archeological records are incomplete, but it appears that horses existed in the New World long before humans arrived but became extinct with a few tens of thousands of years afterward. No new horse species appeared during this time, and horses were not domesticated in the Old World until just a few thousand years ago, so it is unlikely that the first human settlers in the Americas brought horses with them.

Old world corn, cotton, and beans were discovered in Central America, why not a horse? These are huge areas to search and only small portions of the discovers have been complete.
