You don't actually require a special "machine" to produce brown noise. Brown noise is simply noise with a spectral density of 1/f^2, such that lower frequencies have the most power and the power falls off exponentially at higher frequencies. (Note: The attached picture uses a logarithmic scale for frequency, so it makes the spectral power band appear linear. -It isn't linear, it's 1/f^2.)
You can get pre-generated audio files of brown noise (named after Robert Brown, the discoverer of Brownian Motion, not after the color) from http://www.simplynoise.com, and either play them on an MP3 player, or burn them to CD and play them on a stereo system.
Audible brown noise sounds like hiss with a strong bass end, not unlike rain in a thunderstorm.
