In 1924 A man named Edwin Hubble came up with the theory and presented it to the science committee, and sadly they laughed at him for it.
The funny thing is long after his death two guys found in (1964) what we now know as background radiation, which in fact is everywhere, then in 1989 NASA found out all their new discoveries proved a lot of Hubbles theory's and big bang logic. For example Redshift in stars means their moving away from us, background radiation seems to be coming from a point. There are many other example why his theory's seem correct.
