Kaminaljuyú is the best candidate for the city of Nephi. The five mound groupings at the site have been interpreted by Michels as representing five lineages as well as five subchiefdoms (ibid., page 38), which parallels the Nephite tribal lineages of Nephi, Sam, Jacob, Joseph, and Zoram.
