Most certainly yes. We had one just a couple months back here in WV. But it was too small for most people to feel.

Yes New York could experience an earthquake.

Here is a history of earthquakes in New York.
"Strong earthquakes in 1638, 1661, 1663, and 1732 in the St. Lawrence Valley and a shock near Newbury, Massachusetts, in 1727 were felt in New York before the first notable tremor centered within the State was recorded."

I don't know what you mean by type. Here is a link to the 2008 United States National Seismic Hazard Maps. As you can see New York state is in a fairly low hazard area. But the Mississippi area is pretty high. Kind of odd.

Good Luck!

Type: Did the rock break upward, snap sideways, or was triggered by a deep earth event.

Is there an predictions about a New York earthquake possiblity?

The 1994 Northridge Earthquake surprised Californians. Earthquake reinforced freeways broke apart halting 13 million commuters a day. Most people were not prepared: no water, no fuel, limited communication out, apartments collapsed, emergency personnel overtasked trying to save people, power grids offline, broken water lines, broken gas lines destroying homes, some lotting, and the govern telling people to boil water.

You know I really have no idea. I doubt that New York city proper has much to worry about. It appears the faults are to the north and south. Although I'm not a geologist.
