It's okay for your irrational self to be creeped out, as long as your rational self can understand the need for empathy. We are humans. We are capable of doing both.
A man or woman can be creeped out by the sight of one of those pictures of a child with a horribly misshapen mouth, but still contribute to a surgical cure.

I think anything out of the ordinary can be "creepy". I'm a bit uncomfortable myself and I need to do quite a bit of self-talk. I make sure to remind myself that they are people too and how extraordinary they must be in those circumstances.

It reminds me of Plato's Cave...

It's ok, I'm creeped out by old people too sometimes. Especially in tandem.
