The element of "benefit" would definitely be seen in the medical field to help many people who suffer from muscular dystrophy. The ability to strengthen and grow new muscle would be a miracle for those people.

As for the kid himself, I watched that documentary, it was very cool. I am excited to see what that kid can do but it isn't like he's the first kid to have a genetic mutation to improve him physically. Michael Phelps' body processes lactic acid much more efficiently so he doesn't tire out his muscles as quickly, for example.

As of now, I am just excited to see what the kid is capable of. He is no freak, and his condition has it's ups and downs. He will be strong but he is unable to build up fat reserves... that means that if his body goes into starvation mode it will begin breaking down brain matter, which could be permanently detrimental. It will be an interesting life for him, there is no doubt.
