Is it possible to make nylon from sugar?

Polyester might be able to be made by the reaction of polymerization between dicarboxylic acid and hexamethylene diamine, which means that polyester can be made from sugar. Is it possible?

I got this information from another website.

---quote---

Synthesis of nylon (hydroxylated nylon) by the polymerization of diamine and dicarboxylic acid made from sugar has been reported since 1970. In addition, synthesis of hydroxylated nylon by the polymerization of hexamethylene diamine and glucaric acid made from glucose was reported in 1994.

The article mentions that this hydroxylated nylon is essentially biodegradable, and it is possible to use inexpensive glucose for the ingredient.

Biodegradable polymer: Polymers which are capable of being decomposed by biological agents, such as bacteria. It is thought that this type of polymer would be suitable for solving the problem of plastic disposal, and for making biomedical materials such as dissolvable stitches.

Glucaric acid is usually made from glucose by nitric acid oxidation. It is also available commercially.
