"El Castillo" also known as Kukulkan Pyramid.
Chichen-Itza is the most visited archeological site in Mexico´s Yucatán peninsula. In 1988 it was declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Since 2007, when Chichen-Itza's "El Castillo" (Kukulkan Pyramid) was named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World after a worldwide vote, visiting tourism increased by 75% and is spected to double by 2012. Today, Chichen-Itza's Kukulkan Pyramid receives over a million visitors a year!
It is clear today that the Mayan community lived here between 700AD and 900AD, and built most of the structures in the southern area of Chichen-Itza. However, the main buildings in the central area, including the Pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of the Warriors and the Ball Court, are Toltec in design and influence.
The Toltecs came from Central Mexico, and one theory suggests that the Toltecs invaded Chichen-Itza and imposed their architectural style on new constructions. Alternatively, it is know now that the Maya traded extensively and it is possible that they were influenced by the Toltecs with their own architecture.
Another more recent theory claims that Tula, capital of the Toltecs, was actually under the domination of the Maya, resulting in a transfer of style from one city to another. There are fragments of evidence to support each line of thought, but no conclusive evidence for any single theory.

Me too. But apparently they are not allowing visitors to climb the pyramid anymore, since an American tourist fell of the stairs and died in 2006.
