If you don't have the time to discover a new species to name after yourself, why not cut out the middleman and create one? All you need to do is go to the store, get some Spirulina (blue green algea), some unprocessed sea salt, and some distilled water. Now you need some DNA. I suggest using a few specimens at once to maximize the resilience of your new critter, like a hamster and a garden snail. Maybe a little donkey in there for mass. Now you'll need to find a half pound of stem cells, perhaps on craigslist or ebay, and mix dry ingredients in equal parts in a microwave safe bowl. Stir in water to thicken to a pudding like texture. Nuke it for 30 sec, stir well, cover with plastic wrap and pop it back in for 30 sec more. Leave bowl in a warm humid place for at least 72 hours.
Your new species should be just about ready, but you'll want to rinse him off before you start playing with him or it will take days for the smell to wear off.
Congrats on your new DIY Hoardibeast.

Maybe too harsh....
2) Become famous. Take JK Rowling. She inspired the naming of the dinosaur below Dracorex hogwartsia because it looked like a dragon. Maybe writing a famous book on animals will help name a species for you.

3) Go searching yourself. Become a archaeologist and try and find one - then name it after you!

How do you get a new species named after you?
I know there are lots of new species found each year and wonder if there is an organization that trades donations for naming rights or something along those lines, I think it would be a cool gift.

If you discover a new species you name it. A species name though is always comprised of a Latin term and its layman term, The latter (like the Dung beetle) is usually the name of the person who discovered it. I couldn't find anything online like the "star regestry" for new species but now that you mention it that would be a cool gift, except the thousands of species discovered everyday are usually plant or insect lol. Giving your girlfriend's name to a new creepy crawly would be awesome, and funny.

1) Declare war on the planet. OK, so you will need to get some reinforcement (i.e. some mates) and pretend you have some very deadly bombs - and say you would like a new species named after you or you will kill the civilians of Earth. Maybe too harsh....
