What are tidal forces and how do they indicate fusion reactions?

Since nothing can exit a black hole (except for Hawking radiation), we have no way of knowing what physical processes might occur inside the event horizon. Tidal forces are gravitational in nature and are not affected by fusion reactions (except to the insignificant extent that fusion results in mass loss, decreasing the gravitational force). The gravitational force experienced by an object will be greater on those parts of the object closest to the attractor than on those parts farthest away. The result of this difference is a net force (the tidal force) which acts to pull on the object both towards and away from the attractor. In other words, it is the gravitational field gradient, not its strength, that determines the magnitude of the tidal force.

Asker's Rating:
• If the scientist watch long enough and find a black hole which is not pulling in matter and measure the gravitational force to determine, if it is decreasing they could deduce that a fusion reaction was occurring.

What other approaches could be used to determine, if a fusion reaction was occuring? Do neutrinos escape a black hole?
