Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
How do I input this into my calculator?
I have a TI-84 silver edition graphing calculator.
I want to put a logarithm in.
The calculator is pre-set to base 10.
I need a logarithm with base 2.
So the subscript has to be base 2.
And I can't figure out how to get it there.
Can someone help me?

Assuming you have an equation log2(x)=y and you want to solve for y, you can return the log to exponential form: 2^y=x. Then you can take the log10 of both side and get log10(2^y)=log10(x), which you can take the y power out using the laws of logarithms of and make it a multiplier like so, y*log10(2)=log(x). Then you divide both sides by log10(2), so y=log10(x)/log10(2). If I am wrong and you want another variable besides y, simply use the exponential form to find the answer. If you need to find x, just solve the equation. If you instead needed to find the base, you could just take the y root of x. Sorry if you wanted to write a log2 into a TI-84, because that doesn't work, though you can write programs to do it for you.
