"Dr. Steven Holer, Curator of Archaeology at the Denver Museum of Natural History and Science, has conducted extensive research into fractured mammoth and mastodon bones dated 20,000 bp and older, which he contends could only have been broken by humans wielding hammerstones, and although no artefacts or humans remains have been found in context, he’s convinced that he has proof of a very early human presence. Quoted recently in Indian Country Today, he explains his current theories:"

"The accidental discovery in July 1996 of the Tocuila mammoth site in the eastern Valley of México was followed by intensive scientific excavation, which yielded remains of at least seven individuals of Mammuthus columbi in an area measuring only 28 m2. The high density of mostly disarticulated mammoth bones identified 3 m below the surface in a massive, 130-cm-thick lahar deposit of sandy ash and rounded pumice fragments is unusual and suggests a high-energy depositional environment. Samples of charcoal found within this deposit yielded radiocarbon ages ranging between 10 220 ± 75 and 12 615 ± 95 yr B.P. "

"A progress report about human–mammoth interactions in México is provided based primarily on a literature search. More than 270 mammoth localities are known in México, but only 17 of them have shown some evidence of an association between early peoples and mammoth."

In Hagerman, Idaho, the Fed government has a museum with fossils replica's of Mammoths and Mastadons. Hagerman also has the Hagerman Horse, a small version of one of the oldest known horses.

I've heard about art pieces in Mexico of elephants. However, it is believed that the Mexican government removed these artifacts from the museums. Can you find any pictures of elephants in Mexico used to pull stone?
