It is very possible! In fact, it is relatively easy (I say "relatively" because we're talking about moving a large metal object from one continent to another)!
If you take a look at a map of ocean surface currents you'll see that those coming out of the Mediterranean lead right into the North Equatorial current, which in turn leads into the Caribbean current.
In essence, that's what the North Atlantic gyre does :)
