I have been trying to figure this one out for hours now. Most of what I'm seeing on the Internet is the opposite: how dark matter may have been necessary for the early universe in terms of ionizing matter so that it could clump. The theory is that at one point, before matter had clumped so that there were stars emitting radiation, dark matter did clump and had its own Big Bang. The supposed gamma radiation that was possibly emitted may have caused actual matter to clump.
I'm just not seeing an answer to your question, sorry. I would love to learn more.

Today, they know there is not enough matter in the universe to explain the acceleration. The acceleration is caused from the dark energy, 73% of the universe.
This is my guess at their reasoning.
