Before the earth and universe was better understood, people believed God forced the stars to spiral the flat earth so, I guess, we'd have something pretty to look at as we tended our sheep. When science discovered the earth was a planet, that argument was destroyed.
And since gravity had not yet been discovered, people believe God's will held us to the earth, but later science found a way to prove that too.

If you look at individual snowflakes, all of them are hexagonal. It took us a while to realize it was because of the chemical properties of Oxygen bonded with Hydrogen that forced the molecules to be 120 degrees apart, forcing each of them to be perfectly hexagonal.

As science proves more things, God's work gets easier and easier. Someday everything will be so proved, God won't need to have done a thing.
