What is the history of Knights Templar and the Ark?

No one has seen the Ark of the Covenant in hundreds of years that can share.

However, there is evidence that groups were looking for the Ark.

There's no reason to think that the Knights Templar had anything to do with the Ark.

The Ark disappeared long before Knights Templar came along. It vanished during the Babylonian invasion, and the reason people wonder about the Ark is because the Babylonians kept fairly good records of what kind of booty they took from Isreal, and no mention was made anywhere of any item matching the description of the Ark as detailed in the Pentatuec.

There is some limited evidence that some priests managed to sneak the Ark away towards Egypt, where they built a little temple there, before hustling it down into Ethiopia, but nobody knows for sure.

The Knights Templar came along more than a thousand years later, and one of the stories surrounding them is that their founder discovered the Holy Grail in the basement of the remains of Harod's Temple... but again... unsubstatiated.

In any case, it does not make sense to confuse Knights Templar as having anything to do with the Ark... they were from completely different times in history.

The Knights Templar were suppose to defend Israel (most specifically the holly places in Israel) from the "unfaithful". When Isreal was invaded, they probably took all the main relics with them, including the ark. Where to nobody knows, and when the order was extinguished in France, it became a true mystery.

But for me the real mystery would be the existence of the ark itself. No one really saw it back when Salomon's Temple was up anyway, only the main priests... so I wonder if any ark ever existed, as the ark in the Bible is more of a symbol rather than an actual object (as are many other things in the old testament).

The stone in the Holy Grail cup was a symbol for the Ark.
