He was the god of harvest, he was the youngest of the titans and he was the one who overthrew his father (kind of ironic since it happened to him as well). He is depicted as holding a sickle and used it not only to harvest crops but to castrate his father.
I read nothin of the Greeks associating Cronos as anything with saturn, but the romans called him Saturn, the planet was later named after him.
