Anything is possible I suppose, but I think it is highly unlikely.
First, I don't know of any known cases of metamorphosis in nature in any "higher" species than frogs and insects.
And metamorphosis always seems to serve some purpose.
So, if the "bigfoot" phase is not the final form of the species, what is (and what is the fossil record for this final form)?
Also, what purpose is there for a phase after being a giant upright walking primate?
Or if you mean metamorphic more in the sense of Werefolves, as I said, anything is possible, but I don't really think it is likely.
The most likely explanation, if a Bigfoot really exists, would be some sort of evolutionary "one-off" species that we simply haven't found fossil evidence of. But that is highly unlikely
But, until some hard evidence comes along to change my mind, I'm going to say that Bigfoot is a long running hoax.

Could Bigfoot be a metamorphic species?
Maybe thats why we have never found a body, live or dead. The "bigfoot" we see and hear about might just be a snapshot into this time in the species transformation.

I believe Bigfoot still survives, but if there's only one from thousand years ago, it's weird. Maybe it has evolute to survive the weather, food, and all? And Bigfoot has many species, in the articles. Look at this link http://www.mahalo.com/Bigfoot (it's still in Mahalo although)..
