I don't know that scientists would describe gravity as "escaping" a black hole. There is no "membrane" near a black hole, other than mathematical ones. String theory explains all sorts of things, but I don't know that it does a good job with gravity moving anywhere, much less away from a black hole.

Quantum gravity doesn't necessarily have anything to do with string theory. And I'm afraid I don't know much about string theory at all - the math is way beyond me.

Quantum theory: Branes, Close loops, Open loops, gravitons

Relate how these concepts connect to create an quantum gravity theory unifying with the Strong, Weak, and Nuclear forces
