Episode V
Everything goes tits up for our heroes. You really start to see the mettle of the main characters. Darth Vader goes from these dark sith lord with infinite power and ability to this vulnerable guy that is nowhere near as deadly as the Emperor. The Emperor is this small guy that makes Vader quake in his boots, just how deadly is he?
"I am your father!"
Plus, LANDO and BOBA FETT. Need I say more?

Interestingly enough, "A New Hope" wasn't always my favorite. "Return of the Jedi" is the first movie I remember seeing as a child and for years it was my favorite movie ever!

It's a simple story with great characters, and does an great job of introducing the Force from the perspective of Luke, an ordinary kid - just like us. Luke - and we - are introduced to Obiwan, Han Solo, and Chewbacca "normally" - Kid, this is Chewbacca. He's a Wookie. Let him win at chess. It's pretty easy to follow along without knowing the books that way.

Of course, I'll watch them all... over and over. I'll even put up with Hayden Christiansen's bad acting. I just enjoy fantasizing that it's all good...

My favorite is the most recent, Revenge of the Sith. It really wrapped up the series very well. It answered numerous questions about the history of the characters, and it showed the transition from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader. This was the culmination of decades of movies, fan excitement, and storytelling. It was fantastic.

Really? I had a completely different view of "Revenge of the Sith". After so many years of waiting I just wasn't satisfied with the answers it provided. Glad to hear someone enjoyed it though!

My favorite Star Wars movie is "Episode 4: A New Hope". I love it because you're just being introduced to all the classic characters. Think of how many amazing Star Wars moments are in "A New Hope"... There's the scene in the garbage chute, the rescue of Princess Leah...I could go on and on. Interestingly enough, "A New Hope" wasn't always my favorite. "Return of the Jedi" is the first movie I remember seeing as a child and for years it was my favorite movie ever!

"This isn't the answer you're looking for. Move along now."
No wait, those Jedi mind tricks won't work on me. This is the answer we're looking for. Because it's a great movie, and as the song says, first cut is the deepest.
Shame there's no Yoda in it. Almost swings it for The Empire Strikes Back he does. Not enough Yoda in the whole series, alas.

The first one, which is to say, Episode IV, a New Hope. I love it as much for what it represented as a movie as I do for the story. If you saw it for the first time in a theatre, who can forget the "WOW!" as that second ship began to pass "overhead". It's a simple story with great characters, and does an great job of introducing the Force from the perspective of Luke, an ordinary kid - just like us.
