I think the Tron sequel is going to be great. It has a better chance of being true to the source material than, say GI Joe.
The special effects have gone so much bigger and better since Tron was released, and I think that this will benefit the movie.
I'm not really excited, yet, because the release date is still too far away. When the release date gets closer (and pinned down) I think I'll start to get more excited.
I may also try to not get my hopes up too high for this. I was so into the hype for the first Spider-Man movie that, when I saw it, I was a little disappointed. Same for Watchmen. I really didn't like a lot of parts in Watchmen because I had seen all the "making of" previews, interviews with the director, behind-the scenes featurettes, that it presented a much more awesome picture than it wound up being. Still pretty good, but not great.
Then again, I look at that pic of the light cycle and I start mentally drooling.

However I think I'll go see it no matter what, just for the sake of the nostalgia :D
Come on, Jeff Bridges is playing Flynn, can you believe that?
I just want to sit in the same room with all that lot of geeks and nerds and Dorks just like me, and laugh at the same jokes, hold my breath during the same action scenes and enjoy the movie with all those fellows :D
Tron legacy is going to be fun just for that.
Good luck :)

Anyone else really excited about the upcoming movie Tron Legacy?
Tron Legacy is supposed to come out in 2010. I'm a big fan of sci-fi and I think this one looks fantastic. What do you think?

Yes, I'm not sure when the movie industry decided that they must start marketing campaigns at least a year in advance. And there is something to be said of having low expectations when going to the theater. But yeah, I do want me on of them thar light cycles...

I really enjoyed the classic TRON. However, I am very suspicious of remakes and sequels since most of them turn out much worse than the original. So I'm not excited because someone is trying a sequel. If it turns out well that will be great, but I'm not holding my breath.

You have a good point. There have been quite a few dud remakes. But there have also been a few improvements-from-the-original. Terminator 2 was one of those in my opinion (though I am not a huge fan of the governator). I'm going to keep optimistic until the review start coming out next year!

I have my sneaky suspicions that it is more of a "subsidiary of Disney" that made the film. But I am excited none the less.

I remember I loved the Tron movie, I was a kid by the time, but now I'm an adult, how are they going to convince me of their story? How are they going to "suspend my disbelief"? However I think I'll go see it no matter what, just for the sake of the nostalgia :D

Its been a long time since Tron came out and I am generally suspecious of remakes, on the other hand I like Sci-Fi so I will most likely see it when it comes out, my next sci-fi movies to see is district 9
