Should Sarah Blewden be banned from boxing because of her fake boobs?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I am not sure why anybody with fakes would put themselves in that position in the first place, if medical experts all agree that its dangerous then she should take their advice.

Reading a quote from the article it seems the boxer is taking the advice of her plastic surgeon over that of professional medics. From what I know plastic surgeons aren't at the top of the medical credibility list.

--Quote--
Medics insisted her boobs were at risk of contraction or distortion if hit. Cells in tissue pushed forward by the implants could also be harmed.

Sarah, of Poole, Dorset, said: "It is ridiculous. My surgeon said they make me no more vulnerable than any woman. They are not enormous and they are gel so won't burst."

Over all I would say that it is her own responsibillity. She says they are gel, and therefore can't burst, she want's to use a breast protecter and the docters were talking about 'breast tissue'. I agree with Ms Blewden that she's no more vulnerable than any woman. If she want's to box, let her, but let her use just protection. Breast protectors are probably as good an idea for women as a cup is for men. But you don't see them prohibbited, do you?

The doctors have more experience with implants, the medics have more experience with boxing. There probably is no real evidence either way. Put the doctors and the medics in the ring and let them fight it out.

I don't see why her chest is any more dangerous than any other woman's chest. It doesn't give her any advantage in the ring. They are modestly-sized implants. They're gel, and so they are not going to burst. I would also take the advice of plastic surgeons who have experience with breast implants over the advice of medics who are admitting they know very little of the issue by blowing this out of proportion.

It should be her choice whether or not she wants to compete. It's not like her opponents are going to ever be held responsible for any injuries she might suffer whether it be to her nose, stomach, or her chest. So, it's all on her, no matter the circumstances. If they're worried about her suing them for letting her box with breast implants then why don't they just have her sign some waiver?

Boxing is a dangerous sport. There may be injuries. This isn't news to anyone. I don't understand why a small chance of her implants being slightly more dangerous to her is being prioritized over the larger chance of her developing concussions and dementia later in life. If these medics really want to go toe to toe then they should be suggesting that nobody ever box because someone could get hurt.

This is simply an overreaction based on the politics of a female athlete having had cosmetic surgery. It might be going overboard to say that she is being discriminated against, but I can't think of any other logical reason they would be reaching this conclusion.

If she is in danger of them being punched and popped open or something I would say its no a good idea.
