I certainly believe the Saints deserved their two touchdown victory over the Colts. First of all, the Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees was unflappable after the first quarter, throwing for 288 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions, going 32-39. When you have such an accurate quarterback who always has open receivers, it's nearly impossible to stop. Brees put the ball on the money nearly every time, didn't get greedy for the long ball, took what the Colts' defense give him, and it worked. He also did a fine job or leading his receivers into the open field with room to run. Bold coaching decisions by Saints head coach Sean Payton also willed the gold and white to victory. A failed fourth and goal near the end of the first half was made up for by a successful onsides kick to start the second half. It is funny to note, though that if the onsides kick had failed and the Saints lost, Payton would have been ridiculed until the sun came up for "calling such an unnecessary and stupid play." One call can make or break a coach. Payton believed in his team, and that also is a huge part of winning a championship. The Saints deserved the win. They fought hard all season, ended with an astounding season record, and brought glory to a city that has fallen on hard times.

The Indianapolis Colts did not deserve to win. Peyton Manning played well for most of the game, as usual, but fell apart toward the end and threw a costly pick-six, after which there wasn't enough time left. Down two touchdowns, the Colts drove the Saints 5-yard-line, but could not convert on 4th and goal.

The Saints had been in contention for years, and it's just right that they finally made their way all the way to the top.

I have to give credit to New Orleans. They played gutty football. They took chances, like going for it on fourth down inside the 2 and getting stuffed. They controlled the ball and the game from the second quarter on. Based on the fact that they kept Peyton Manning and the Colts offense off the field, they earned the win. If Pierre Garcon catches that ball on 3rd down on the Colts first drive of the second quarter...it may have been a different story.

Other great gutsy moments:
Starting the second half with an onside kick.
Going for a two point conversion.

You dont "deserve" to win games. The team that scores the most points wins.

As one commentator put it during the third quarter, "The Saints are playing like they want it, and the Colts are playing like they are entitled to it." That was what determined the game.

I can't really comment on this from a gameplay perspective, but I think it is an absolutely great thing for New Orleans and area. It basically validates in my mind that the city is back on the map and can put their past behind them. I really think the people of New Orlean's and the whole gulf coast deserves this victory!

This wasn't a game full of fumbles and mistakes...(see: Bears vs Colts 2007)...this was a well played game on both sides where the touchdowns were matched almost point by point until near the end of the game. Flags were pretty minuscule here and the interception that breached the win was clean. There wasn't a upsetting Ref call or overtime (which I think is generally a crapshoot based on a coin toss). So it was well-deserved and a great game.

Yes! Yes they did! I have never seen some of those plays EVER in the Superbowl. Waterboy, yes. But not in the Superbowl. Or anywhere close. They made some boo-boos, played their hearts out, the defense was phenomenal, and just the sheer excitement factor made it one of the best games I've ever seen. Laissez les bons temps rouler. I'd expect nothing less, mes amis!

Absolutely they deserved to win - they showed up to play football and Indy, well, they didn;t play like they wanted it.

My hat is off to NO - they had a great season, played some great football and earned - not deserved - their win!

It does not matter if they deserved to win or not. They won, end of story. The reason the games are played on the field and not on paper is to see who really will win.

No one deserve to win the Super Bowl, the Saints won because of the final score.

They finished the season with an impressive 13-3-0.

This mean, they proved their worth game after game. They were at the final show-down (the Super Bowl) because they tackled, touch-downed, blocked, dived and scrimmaged their way there.

They won because they managed to get the most points, whether they played a game with fumbles and other mistakes - their talent enabled them to get the most points - and they won.

I don't think it's a matter of whether or not they deserved to win. I think they were in the right place at the right time and they were able to capitalize unlike the Colts.

I believe New Orleans played with their hearts. It was a team effort all year. The Colts are undoubtedly a great team, but most of their greatness falls on the shoulders of Payton Manning. The Saints play as a team with Drew Brees, Jeremy Shockey, Dave Thomas, Garrett Hartley. The owner, Tom Benson never lost hope, even after the devestation caused by Katrina. So, yes, I think they deserved the win.

(Did anyone else notice all the "Payton"s going on? Payton Manning, Coach Payton, the Walter Payton award!)

I don't think its a matter of deserving or not. You earn Super Bowl wins. Put simply, the Saints were a better team and out played the Colts when it mattered. No team deserved to win.

There is no deserving. You win or you lose, based on how you played. The Saints played very well last night. It was a great game to watch. I really enjoyed it. :)

Yes. They played a tough game, and capitalized on mistakes the Colts made. They scored more points and outplayed the Colts.
