The return time period is dependent partly on what item you are returning and whether you purchased it online or in a Macy's store...
You have 180 days to return most items whether you purchased them at the store or online.
If you are returning items purchased from macys.com you can exchange or return most merchandise for a full refund, less the shipping charges, based on the original form of payment, within the 180 days of your purchase. Store return's must be exchanged or returned at a Macy's store. You cannot return items you purchased at a store to macys.com via mail but you can return most items purchased at macys.com to your local store as long as it is within the 180 day time period. You take your merchandise and your invoice, with bar code attached, to your local store and any sales person is able to process your return. You can also return and exchange items purchased at macys.com by mail. You are not charged shipment for a replacement item, however, original shipping fees are non-refundable. If the item requested in exchange is not available, you receive credit in the original method you used for payment. Merchandise credits are issued for items which were gifts. If payment was with a gift card, the amount is returned as a new gift card.
Area Rugs purchased from macys.com may not be returned to Macy's stores.
