U.S.News & World Report did a whole feature on where the Best Place to Retire is -> http://www.usnews.com/features/business/best-places-to-retire/best-places-to-retire.html

They even include a custom sreach tool to help narrow down exactly what you're looking for since a question like this is very open ended -> http://www.usnews.com/directories/retirement

Hopefully this will help answer that difficult question, "Where should I retire?"

I know some English-speaking couples who have retired to Goa in India and they love it. Perfect for a number of reasons, one of which is medical care.

Guatemala is a beautiful country, has lots of places that are safe, quiet, comfortable and really, really cheap, so you can live well with little money. Plus, there are many things to see and do, like visiting mayan ruins and active volcanoes. Also, if you don't speak Spanish yet, you won't feel out of place, as many people speak English and there are a lot of language schools. Besides, it's closer to places like Cancun and the Mayan Riviera and you can travel faster and cheaper to the US, just in case.
