How do I make a good impression on my resume, and hopefully at an interview?

I am 17 years old and I am planning on applying for a job at a local Apple store. I am very knowledgeable about the product line and prices. This will be my first actual job and I was hoping to get some advice on what they might be looking for in my resume (I have a lot of technology experience from community service projects at school).

All advice is helpful, thanks

A resume should demonstrate that you possess the key traits that the position will require, while the interview is to demonstrate that you will fit in with the current team.

With your resume, you are trying to condense the substantial elements of your qualifications onto a sheet of paper. Summarize your level of technical knowledge, along with how you acquired that knowledge.

The trick with all interviews is that people let feelings influence their decisions. Therefore your whole objective with the interview is to make them feel comfortable having you as part of the team.

Window-shop at the store a few times and pick up on the language used. What level of vocabulary is most common? What is the tone of voice and demeanor commonly displayed? How do they interact with each other? What is their posture with each other? Once you get an idea of them, you can go to your interview "playing the part" of a future team member because that's what they need to see you as.

I've found the most effective method on a resume and interview is to identify how you have education or experience that talks directly to what the company is looking for. You want to highlight the skills you have that goes directly to the job description.

As a side-note... I get a little narcissistic and go into an interview with half-a-mind that I'm interviewing THEM. Essentially, you want to make sure you are right for them as well as they you.

Always write all true things and be brief about it. Only write those things that will surely get the interest of the employees.. There was a time when employers are more interested with applicants with resumes as thick as a book, but nowadays, they want it brief and concise.
