I did this for a while. I got really busy and it got really tedious. You earn points by scanning your purchases and transmitting. You also get extra points for answering surveys. The longer you participate, the more points you get for transmitting. Anything with a barcode is easy to transmit and send, but you are also supposed to be transmitting take-out food and fruits, veggies and meat. Which can be tiresome. In a few months you might get something for the points, but only a low ticket item such as a DVD anything bigger is going to take a while.
Unless the technology changed, when it came to transmitting, I had to plug in an old phone with a cord or take it to my office and transmit. If there was any background noise, it interfered with the transmission.
As for the whether it is worth the time an effort, that is really a personal issue. It was fun for me at first (couple of years), but then I got busy on a personal level and that was it.

Is Homescan by Nielsen worth the time and effort?
Is anyone a member of this and if so, how do you earn points and redeem them? Does it take long to earn enough points to redeem? Any other information about the program that would be helpful to know?
